Spain have won the World Cup 2010 in South Africa by beating Holland 1-0 in extra time! Player of the tournament Iniesta scored the winning goal. What a player, what a goal, what a winner.

The Dutch played poor footie even though they had some great chances to score. Heitinga got sent off and Van Bommel deserved to go off too. They never had the class to win it and so it is 3 times in the final for the Netherlands and zero win… all silver medals.

Germany have been knocked out of the world cup by a brilliant Spanish team. Spain won the football match 1-0 but it could have been much more as they dominated the whole game with their simple passing game. Was beautiful to watch.

Puyol scored his goal with his head from a corner. What a football game by the center half! He was brilliant, along with all his team mates. Xavi and Iniesta passed and passed while youngster Pedro showed good pace and skill. He had a brilliant opportunity to pass to Torres late on in the game to make it 2-0, but he decided to go alone… and he failed miserably. It was poor from him, but overall he did well and he deserved to start the game.

So the final game of this world cup is on Sunday… Spain against Holland (Netherlands). It will be the first time that they meet in a world cup and it should be quite a good game too. Both play great footie. Holland have been in 2 finals before but they lost them to the home side (Germany and Argentina). They had Cryff and Neeskens in those days… the 1970′s, but today they have Sneijder and Robben.

Anyway, lets see what the final will bring, but either way it will be a country that hasn’t won it before.

England, with all their Premiership stars, were humiliated by a good German football team. They won 4-1. The Germans played modern football where as England went back to the dark ages in football. They couldn’t cope with Ozil who was all over England’s defence which was stretched and looked very poor. Any team in the world would have beaten the English today… they were that bad.

There was major incident in the game where Lampard scored a great goal, but it was disallowed by poor referring. It would have made the score 2-2 which the English would say, would have changed the game. Maybe it would have, but I don’t think it would have changed the result of the Germans winning. Why? Because England were terrible all over the pitch. They couldn’t defend, they couldn’t attack and couldn’t show any creativity. You think they will send the team back to England in economy class as well? Haha… maybe they should.

The Germans were comfortable winners today, but in the next round they will face much stronger competition, a team that would actually give them a test on the pitch. Mexico or Argentina is now waiting for them. Well done Germany.

Italy, the defending champions, have been knocked out of the world cup by Slovakia! This must be a first that the 2 finalists from the previous world cup got knocked out at the first stage of a world cup… and both finished at the bottom of their groups too… incredible! They looked like a shadow of the team that won the world cup 4 years ago. New Zealand has finished above Italy with Slovakia going through to the knockout stages and Paraguay joining them as group winners.

Switzerland break the world record for the longest run of not conceding a goal in world cup games. The record they broke was 551 minutes. Amazing for such a small footballing nation. In the previous world cup they didn’t concede one goal in 4 games. So far they have kept clean sheets against Spain and now Chile. Just after breaking the record they conceded a goal to Chile!

Can you believe it… Germany have lost their world cup game against Serbia. Germany had Klose sent off but they were given a penalty after Vidic handballed. And guess what… GERMANY MISSED A PENALTY! This world cup gets stranger and stranger. If Australia beat Ghana tomorrow then all the teams will be on the same points in Group D. Serbia went into the lead from a great finish from Jovanovic, who is Liverpool bound for next season.

Wow what a few days of footie! Spain loosing to the Swiss, South Africa the hosts got thumped by Forlan and the rest of the Uruguayian team and last night France got taught a lesson in football by Mexico and Manchester United’s new striker Hernandez. Oh and Greece coming from a goal down to Nigeria to win 2-1. Amazing, the world cup has finally arrived after a first round of matches that were quite dull as no one wanted to loose their first game.

The shock of the tournament has to be Spain going down 1-0 to Switzerland and then France loosing. The French don’t deserve to be in the tournament after cheating their way into the 2010 world cup when Henry handballed in a game against the Irish that led to a French goal that got them to this tournament. How funny is it that another team in green, Mexico, got some sweet revenge for the Irish with an awesome display of football last night. For France to qualify they now have to 1. Rely on Uruguay destroying Mexico and 2. France need to beat South Africa handsomely too. I can’t see this happening so au revoir Francais! Spain with all their talent on display couldn’t score against a very well organized Swiss team (ya di gud Germans). But I think Spain has too much quality and will go through to the next round but they will have to beat Chile (won’t be an easy game) and Honduras to do so.

Argintina did very well as well with Real Madrid striker, Higuain, scoring the first hat-trick of the tournament. He was brilliant and so was Messi, the star of the tournament so far. A little genius with awesome skill and ability to create goals. They are looking good.

Today there are some big games too. England have a huge game against Algeria, while Germany face Serbia and Slovenia face the USA. Let’s see how good England are because before the world cup started they were mentioned as one of the favorites to go through to the final. Hmmm will see what all the hype is all about after tonights game in Cape Town.

The World Cup Group D winners were Germany and Ghana. Germany thrashed the Aussies (Australia) 4-0 while Ghana became Africa’s first winners in this years World Cup by beating a solid Serbia team 1-0. Serbia almost got a draw but defender Kuzmanovic handballed with 5 minutes to go! Ghana know how to celebrate African style… with lots of dancing.

Today the Netherlands (Holland) defeated Denmark 2-0 with an own goal opening the scoring. Japan who are also in Group E, defeated Cameroon 1-0. None of these games have been very exciting but I’m sure the quality will pick up once there is more at stake and once everyone gets used to the new Adidas ball. The ball has been heavily criticized and rightly so. Why do they change the ball for every tournament? Makes no sense.

Anyway, tonight the defending champions, Italy, will be in action against Paraguay. Paraguay beat both Argentina and Brazil in the qualifiers, so this could be a very interesting match. Let’s hope sp
